After being deployed on Android, Mac, Windows and Linux, Chrome OS version 74 is now available. Notable features include a new unified search that redefines the experience of the wizard. Other additions include PDF annotation tools and the creation of folders in My files.
Search Chrome OS 74 has been redesigned to offer a better combined experience of device, web and assistant searches. Tap the search field – without entering any text in the box – will display the app suggestions and display your previous queries. By hovering over any item in the history, users will be able to quickly delete it from their account as a result of a confirmation prompt.
The Google Assistant will first try to search and view results online. A query on the weather will display the temperature and forecasts directly in this interface, while the more general will be returned to Google Search on the Web in a new tab.
While the wizard (when it was launched from the dedicated shortcut on a Pixelbook or Pixel Slate) was originally a floating dialogue, it is now integrated with the experience of Chrome OS general search for a more unified experience. Assistant has the advantages of being displayed on a slightly fuzzy and transparent background.

There is also an eraser and buttons Reset / Cancel, with this feature very useful in connection with pens, pens and of course your finger or your mouse.

The Google Camera app now supports external USB cameraslike webcams, USB microscopes and document cameras.
Previously, saving files and creating new folders was limited to the Downloads folder by default. With Chrome OS 74, these actions are possible in the Root "My files". Similarly, Linux applications on Chrome OS (Crostini) can now play audio. In addition, users can send system performance profiling data with feedback reports.
Chrome 74 prevents pages being closed (or replacing) from opening a pop-up window. Specifically, pages can not use the window.open () API to open a new page when unloading it. The browser's popup blocker was already blocking it, but this behavior is now prohibited, regardless of whether the blocker is enabled.
Chrome OS 74 is being rolled out and will be available for all Chromebooks in the coming weeks.
