Depth map of 49ers: Matt Breida ranked in the list

The San Francisco 49ers posted their first unofficial depth chart before their first-week match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday afternoon. This in no way indicates how many players will play, but it generates a good discussion and gives us a glimpse of the players' current situation. Depth graphics are fluid. For example, we know that in a month, Nick Bosa will not be a backup. You do not recruit a player that high and do not leave him on the bench. In addition, the fact that Bosa does not start the game does not mean that he will not play as many shots along the defensive line.

Offense

Matt Breida is RB1. This has changed and after the preseason, it is difficult to discuss anything else. For a Kyle Shanahan offense, it is the best option.

Bourne in front of Samuel is interesting. Bourne has certainly been more present on the field during the pre-season, but again, that does not indicate how things will unfold. Samuel could play 25 clichés Sunday but would have ten keys while Bourne could play 40 shots and only four keys. We know that Samuel will play more.

There are not too many surprises on the offensive side of the ball. Dwelley is by far the best receiving option after Kittle, so it makes sense to put it as TE2. If the team signs Jordan Mills, it could put Skule on the training team.

Defense

It may not mean much, but all summer D.J. Jones ran with 1 and Sheldon Day would follow. This is a recent change. I prefer Jones, but I do not think it's a big deal because both players will not play more than 30 shots per game, more than likely.

Bosa is not a backup and I'm not sure we need to say anything other than that. He will play, a ton. Thomas is considered a defensive back, but we will see him twice more inside when the attack takes place in obvious situations. I thought Thomas played very well from inside during the pre-season. He has a chance to put his career back on track if he pursues it.

I love to see Greenlaw listed as an entry. He deserved it.

Moseley is considered a half outer corner and Reed as the backup corner half is interesting. Reed played outside during the pre-season, but was not as efficient, while Moseley looked very comfortable in both cases. If K'Waun can not go, it'll be between those two, or Ward to replace. Speaking of Ward and Witherspoon, I wonder if we will see Moore / Verrett receive a series here and there. We saw the defense in Kansas City leave with Ward in the slot, and Moore and Tartt as deep protections. I prefer that, but a healthy Verrett is one of your best types of coverage. These are good problems to have.

Special Teams

Dante Pettis, who is part of the list of returning players, makes me happy. I believe that it gives you the best chance to score. He was electric at the university and I think he will continue to be in the NFL.
