Derek Hough misses recording of Dancing With The Stars after coming into contact with someone who contracted COVID-19
Derek Hough was absent from the recording of Dancing With The Stars on Monday due to contact with someone who had previously contracted COVID-19.
The announcement of the absence of the 36-year-old reality TV personality, who is one of the judges of the program, was made by the host of the series, Tyra Banks.
The artist noted that “due to potential exposure to COVID, and although he is fully vaccinated and tested negative, Derek will not be appearing on tonight’s show out of caution.”

Hough first signed on to work as a judge on the long run of dance competitions during his 29th season, which began last September.
Prior to taking the position, he was a featured dancer in the program and began his tenure during his fourth series of episodes.
He won his first mirror balloon in the show’s seventh season when he was teamed up with TV host Brooke Burke.
The artist went on to reach No. 1 on the show five more times, with his most recent victory coming in his 21st series of episodes when he danced with Bindi Irwin.

Multiple Roles: Prior to becoming a judge in the program, Hough competed with several other dance partners and won first prize on several occasions.
Hough has appeared as a contestant on Dancing With The Stars a total of 17 times during the show’s history.
In addition to his engagements with the hit competition series, the artist is currently appearing in his own stage show, Derek Hough: No Limit, which performs at the Venetian in Las Vegas.
The professional dancer has notably commuted between Los Angeles and Sin City in recent weeks.
A performance that was previously scheduled to take place on Sunday has been canceled.

Hough isn’t the only Dancing With The Stars character to have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, as Peloton instructor Cody Rigsby and his dance partner, Cheryl Burke, have had to stop performing in person.
The latter of the two had initially announced to have contracted the coronavirus just before the second week of the program.
The fitness instructor shared that he also tested positive for COVID-19 days after the news of his dance partner became public.
The Dancing With The Star team later announced that the couple would refrain from performing live and instead dance separately and at a distance while recovering from the effects of the coronavirus.
This is the first time that the series will feature a routine without a person in its 16-year history.
