Deshaun Watson wants Texans no matter who the next coach is

Deshaun Watson shouldn’t change his mind about wanting to leave Houston no matter who the Houston Texans hire as their next head coach, ESPN reported on Sunday.

The disgruntled Pro Bowl quarterback has been the subject of business speculation since the end of the regular season after it was reported that he was unhappy that he had not been involved in the team’s off-season signings.

According to the Miami Herald, Watson has identified the Jets and Miami Dolphins as his top two potential business destinations. His official Instagram page even “liked” a screenshot depicting him on The Post’s last page last week with the headline “WATever It Takes.”

Watson has yet to publicly request a trade “and the Texans have shown no interest in trading it, sources say,” the NFL Network reported on Sunday.

The Texans ignored recommendations from Korn Ferry – the consultancy firm they hired to find a new GM to replace ousted GM / coach Bill O’Brien in October – including ESPN analyst Louis Riddick and the vice president of the Steelers football administration Omar Kahn.

Instead, Texans president Cal McNair and vice president of football operations Jack Easterby went with Nick Caserio, the Patriots’ longtime director of player personnel.

Watson was also reportedly upset to learn about Caserio’s hiring via social media. He has a no-trade clause in his five-year, $ 156 million contract, which means he can dictate any trade destination.

As for their search for coaches, the Texans are expected to request a second interview with Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier following Sunday’s AFC Championship game between those teams.

Houston has previously interviewed former Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell, as well as longtime NFL quarterback Josh McCown, Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus and Baltimore Ravens assistant head coach David Culley.

Watson, 25, has led the NFL with 4,823 passing yards this season, with 33 touchdown passes and seven career-low interceptions for the Texans, who finished with a 4-12 record.
