Destiny 2 is the best weapon of the game (Whisper of the Worm)

This week, one of the most coveted weapons of Destiny 2 starts to scare, and saying that fans are not happy would be an understatement. In the latest edition of "This Week at Bungie", it was revealed that The Whisper of the Worm, an exotic sniper rifle with unlimited ammo if you reach critical points, will no longer have that ability. Instead, it will only have 18 turns and although you never have to recharge, it will stop now after exhausting your magazine. The nerfing of weapons and armor continues to occur with the Destiny sandbox repeatedly, even after promises have been made that this design strategy no longer occurs. With Whisper in particular, it is an exact replica of the Black Hammer nerve that occurred in the original Destiny.

Explaining the change, Bungie says the following. "For Season of Opulence, several notable weapons are being tuned. We want to make sure that matches – raids and other final stage content, for example – remain a challenge. Some of these weapons have overcome this challenge. Our first choice is to protect ourselves from underused weapons, but if we continue to push each weapon higher and higher, it will be impossible to maintain difficult experiences. This is not a complete list of changes, but some of the most impactful. The idea that whispering Whisper to keep things "difficult" is frustrating for a number of reasons. First of all, Whisper is not the best weapon for all situations. It works very well on characters like the Prime Insurrection raid leader who stays motionless during a damage phase, but for others like Kalli who moves too much or the Vault based on mechanics, this is not the ideal choice. It works as well as Morgeth on other bosses, but it's still because he's a big, still boss with a damage phase. If I had to guess, this change will not come because the weapon is overpowered, but because of the new raid launched on June 4 and that Bungie does not want the teams to finish it too quickly.

In addition to the Nerf Whisper, some other powerful exotics see their pleasure factor reduced. Ace of Spades will no longer keep his reserve when you exchange weapons, Lord of Wolves, who received a significant improvement during the Drifter Season, will now benefit from a 20% reduction in damage and will not grant bonus ammo for those killed remotely. Oof. Armor side, Skull of Dire Ahamkara for Warlocks will not generate as much super energy for Warlocks, and Orpheus Rig for hunters will also generate less super energy, but we will have to see how radical these changes will be.

For the moment, it's not unreasonable for fans to expect their next coveted weapon to be processed to the point of never using it again a few months later. It's a terrible feeling for a game designed entirely around his weapon system. Recently, the community congratulated Bungie for the release of Outbreak Perfected, a step back for Outbreak Prime. Today, the conversation on Twitter and Reddit has completely resulted in a 180 and has turned to the tone of "I really like that. I wonder how long it will take until Bungie ruins it. A weapon goes out, everyone likes it and instead of designing a more elaborate meeting to satisfy it, or other options, the decision is rather made to destroy what makes it so much fun. That's one reason why I do not pursue the quest for a less desired weapon until Bungie feels like it's "the right choice," which usually means it will be easier. If Bungie continues in this way, it will reinforce the fact that exotic species have an expiration date making our milling meaningless.

Nobody wants that, and see that Bungie is going forward with the changes, regardless of the players' incessant reactions, makes the team promise to hear his fans ring hollow.
