Update: The event has ended, coinciding with the shutdown of Destiny’s servers. At first, players heard disturbing messages from their Ghost, who noted that every Guardian fire team had returned to the last town to protect the people. “The last time this happened the world ended,” Ghost said.
Eris Morn also intervened, saying that the Traveler was healing. But she didn’t think it would help stop the darkness either. “It’s not the end – it’s an escalation,” Eris said.
Moments later, the image cropped from a photo of the director, the solar system map used by players to navigate Destiny 2 destinations. Those on the left side of the screen, marked by the Pyramid Ships of Darkness , were slowly submerged in black as tendrils meandered towards the Traveler, who healed simultaneously.
This image mirrors the one from the Destiny 1 opening film that explained the collapse, the apocalyptic event that ended the Golden Age and caused the state of the world players find themselves in. In the Destiny 1 movie, black tendrils meander from all sides to attack the traveler in the center.
The screens are then cut to black. The players were greeted with an ominous final message:
For now, Destiny 2’s servers are down, but they are expected to come back online for Beyond Light at 12 p.m. PT / 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 10.
Original story: Destiny 2 is set to enter its next big chapter with the release of the Beyond Light expansion on Tuesday, November 10, and it has made some big changes over the past season. One more thing is happening before the servers go offline on November 9 to make way for the expansion: another live in-game event.
Bungie has been suspicious of the event, but suggested it would be on a rather small scale. A small update is now available in the game, which you will need to download before the event begins.
Re: What time do I have to log in for the end of season event?
It’s a small event, a time for you to spend time with friends at the end of the season.
Key moments from last week’s Player Support Report. Download your patch at 4 p.m., enter before 6:50 p.m. (Pacific). pic.twitter.com/NggW9mtHf8– dmg04 (@ A_dmg04) November 9, 2020
Once you’re there, check out the tower map in the director for a blue banner at the top, which will allow you to initiate a limited-time mission. Looks like it’s located in the old tower. We will have more details once we try it.
The mission sends you to the last town, to investigate a strange sensation felt by ghosts all over the planet. Along the way, you are hit by a wave of light that gives you a boost called “speed” that makes you move faster and allows you to jump higher. After going through a door, you’ll find yourself on a skyscraper rooftop with plenty of other Guardians, and it looks like we’ll be waiting here to see what happens – there doesn’t seem to be much else to do. make.
It should be noted that the Traveler appears to glow, however, with arcs of energy running around him. Some players have speculated that the event may end with the Traveler’s healing, and it seems very likely. Playing the mission also grants you a new emblem, Calamity Protocol.
If you’re struggling to get into Destiny right now, you’re not alone. With so many players trying to log in to see the event live, Destiny 2 servers seem to be struggling and producing lots of login errors.
The story of the Arrivals Season has seen the game’s readiness to multiple Destiny 2 locations “vaulted” or indefinitely withdrawn from the game. Titan, Io, Mercury, Mars, and the Leviathan are all removed in Beyond the Light, and these destinations have seen stories throughout the season to explain what’s going on, in which you’ve tried to help prepare to evacuate these planets. It looks like the live event could be a plug on this story ahead of Beyond Light’s launch and its big changes in Destiny 2.
It should also be noted that Destiny 2 servers go offline at 7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. ET Monday night for maintenance before Beyond Light. They should be put into service with the new extension to Noon PT / 3 p.m. ET Tuesday.
