Destiny 2’s latest raid, Deep Stone Crypt, still challenges many players, but a team has now completed it unarmed.
Destiny 2 gamers are always looking for new ways to push the game and its various challenges to its limits, and a new gameplay clip shows yet another way. YouTuber CommanderCuesta and his team have defeated the final boss of the new Deep Stone Crypt raid without using any weapons.
This type of challenge is nothing new Destiny 2, because players have tried to beat some unarmed bosses since the original destiny. Still, given how new the raid is, this kind of mastery of its mechanics and team cohesion is impressive to see.

Instead of weapons, players can only use abilities and melee to deal damage. This includes ultimates, grenades, and any other abilities activated without firing or swinging a weapon. Obviously, it takes a lot longer to defeat the bosses and is a lot riskier, but it’s a viable strategy.
In terms of strategy, it seems like most players in the raid group were rocking the Stormcaller Warlock subclass, making excellent use of that class’s Chaos Reach ability. Whenever they can, they save the cooldown of their abilities to deal damage to Taniks, Bosses, and instead team up and focus melee attacks on regular enemies that cause trouble. This allows players’ most devastating abilities to go where they’re needed, but teamwork is needed to take down even regular enemies with just melee attacks.
To make things more impressive, it’s not just a game of patience and wear and tear as the team is also running against the clock. If not defeated for too long, Taniks goes into a state of anger, killing the entire group immediately. Because of this, CommanderCuesta and his team had to find a way to reduce the health of the Taniks to 15% before that happened, requiring a little luck and a wise allocation of team resources. As shown in the video above, they almost hit that point, but were able to get by through concentrated use of the Ultimate Chaos Reach.
Following their making, CommanderCuesta posted the video online, claiming that it plans to submit it to Bungie’s Movie of the Week. Considering the difficulty of this task, he might just earn this spot, but there are other impressive feats to be found as well. For example, Slayerage defeated the Atraks-1 boss fight in solo, so there is a lot of competition.
