Destiny 2 season 13 will receive re-released weapons and Shadowkeep

In the first Bungie blog post of the year, the studio looked back on some Destiny 2The weapon and armor from the end of last year. Starting in February, players can collect old armor and weapons both in Dreaming City and on the Moon.

Starting in Season 13 – which is set to launch on February 9, according to the game’s countdown – eight weapons and two sets of armor will return from Abandoned and Shadowkeep. Players who already own these weapons or pieces of armor will need to collect them in their uncapped form.

  • Sleep wake-up call, insomnia, voucher and the story of the dream city
  • Heretic, Blasphemer and Apostate of the Moon
  • Premonition will also be on the Moon, but exclusive to the Pit of Heresy dungeon
  • Dream City Reverie Dawn Armor Set
  • Dreaming City Dreambane Armor

According to the Bungie blog post, it looks like players can get rolls of these never-before-seen weapons from their respective dungeons – Shattered Throne in Dreaming City and Pit of Heresy on the Moon. Armor pieces will also drop with very high stats from dungeons.

Bungie ended this section of their blog post by saying that not all weapons from old destinations like these will return to the loot pool. But with these re-releases, players should have more reasons to spend time on the Moon or in the Dreaming City. This announcement comes after some major frustrations rumbling in the Destiny community post-Beyond the light.

When Destiny 2: Beyond the Light Launched last November, Bungie rolled out its infusion capping system. Players could no longer infuse weapons older than a year. Infusion is a process of feeding a high powered weapon onto a low powered weapon, causing the low powered weapon to gain strength. For activities that require high power levels like the Trials of Osiris or Nightfalls raid, these older weapons have become virtually unusable.

Almost all the weapons of the Abandoned and Shadowkeep the expansions saw an infusion cap in November, although both expansions are still on sale. This caused a point of frustration where new players have no loot incentive to play through these expansions, meaning they could only spend their money on getting a handful of Exotic quests and no Legendary loot.

destiny 2Game director Luke Smith recently told Polygon that the studio is looking for ways to improve timing. Although the studio still deems it necessary, it causes problems and unexpected behavior in the community. Bungie will continue to iterate on timeout throughout the year.
