Destiny 2 Season 13 will bring new Trials of Osiris armor, and Bungie started teasing that loot on Friday with some images published on the game’s Twitter account.

Bungie’s weekly blog on Thursday introduced players to new upcoming features Destiny 2 in its next season, which begins February 9. And now the studio has given players a preview of the loot refresh for Trials of Osiris. This came as a surprise to many, as players weren’t expecting the Trials of Osiris rewards pool to change until Season 14.

The Osiris trials have returned Destiny 2 with Season of the Worthy last year, Destiny 2the spring season. Bungie had originally planned for the current Trials loot to remain until spring 2021, and it hasn’t been a full year. However, because of Destiny 2: Beyond the Lightdelay of the season, season 13 now falls into the awkward position of being a hybrid winter / spring season; had Beyond the light launched on time, players are said to have prepared for Season 14 in March.

This time lag is easy to see by looking at the “sunset” power level for current weapons and armor in testing. Players can only raise current Trial items to power level 1360, while the current Season 11 cap is 1260. This means players will be able to continue using their old Trial weapons until at least the end of the game. season 13 – and potentially longer, depending on how much maximum horsepower increases next season.

We’ve never seen this kind of overlap before with extinguishing guns, as guns are only supposed to last 12 months with this new system.

As for the loot itself, the images are too dark to definitively identify their origins. But the armor pieces do have an ornate look, and it looks like players will be dealing with the Cabal Empire again starting in Season 13. These armor silhouettes match this aesthetic.

It is also not confirmed that any new Trials of Osiris weapons will accompany this armor set. But the current weapon and armor sets both expire at 1360 potency, which suggests we’ll have replacements at the same time.

Players will learn more about Destiny 2 season 13 – and will likely get a glimpse of the Trials of Osiris loot – when Bungie launches the reveal trailer on February 2.
