The moon was eventually added to Destiny 2 in 2019, but last year’s Beyond Light update made its loot obsolete. Bungie plans to fix that issue next season by re-issuing some of their old gear with a new infusion cap in the studio’s ongoing dance to try to get the game progress just right.
Bungie outlined the details of these changes, which will be introduced when Season 13 begins February 9 in this week’s blog post. Here’s a quick look at the changes, which also apply to Dreaming City, added in 2018. Abandoned expansion:

Beyond the light has changed a lot in Destiny 2, not only by getting rid of several of the game’s main locations and story campaigns, but also rendering large chunks of its loot obsolete. Bungie is also reworking the Crucible and Gambit progressions. Instead of collecting tokens, players will rank with one vendor or the other as they would with any other, obtaining Engrams upon reaching each rank and additional crafting materials at specific intervals. Basically, Shaxx and the Drifter will be offering their own mini-season passes. Sounds like a better system to me than the current token-based one, but partly only because Bungie has slowly made this one a lot less rewarding than it would otherwise be. The reward packages that result from handing over tokens drop to significantly lower power levels than your existing gear, and also draw from an extremely small gear pool that most players already own.
The new progressions will make the tokens obsolete, so players are encouraged to return them all now before the start of next season. In practice, that means bothering with certain menus in exchange for maybe gear over the tens and tens that has an edge or a roll of stats worth hanging on. Again, I feel like Bungie is fixing another problem on its own.
But wait, there is still more! Nerves to certain Stasis abilities in PVP are also on the way.
