Destiny 2’s Hawkmoon Rolls and Catalyst Quest is live, how to beat it

Ok i’ve been busy playing sorry it’s a little late but i realized i probably am do not Go solo this new quest and will have to recruit a team to give it a better try even though I’m at 1280 power which the quest doesn’t seem to care about.

Hawkmoon’s Secret Quest is live, which will give us both the pistol catalyst and random throws, although it’s extremely long and difficult and you’ll probably fail a lot before we fully understand this thing.

So here are the steps I have done so far, and even though I stopped right before the end, I will update that a bit later.

Before you do anything, go talk to Crow. It’s not marked on the map but it will have a new quest for you that looks pretty clear when you enter its menu, an exotic type symbol

Then you have to go to the Secret Chimney Tunnel just in front of the EDZ Trostland spawning on the second side of the building, which only opens when shot with Hawkmoon. Then you will see a “Start Mission” trigger on the side just across the entrance.

It starts off a mission that will have you hunt down three emissaries, and this part is very confusing from the start here.

You’re going to kill a single Taken Hobgoblin and… don’t really know where to go. Jump to where he is standing, then look towards the dam. There will be a tree branch that allows you to land on it, then you will want to jump to the dam and land on its little pipe edges. You can make your way along small edges halfway up the dam where there will be an open trap door you can enter.

After that, the next section offers you to hunt down three captured emissaries. You’ll damage one, it’ll go through a burn-protected door, kill it, then head back to the main room. Do it three times and you will be told to “Follow the falcon”.

The Falcon takes you to the Crow’s Nest mission boss room where you have to survive waves of enemies, including unstoppable phalanges, and everything has Nightfall shields. All of the enemies in this mission are tough and that’s about where I realized I couldn’t play solo.

But after clearing that, you’ll find a new path that leads to the original Hawkmoon mission section of the EDZ, where you’ll rerun most of the same, which ends with a boss fight against the original boss of the EDZ. Hawkmoon. Your reward is the catalyst and the randomly launched Hawkmoons with a long list of possible perks. I don’t know how many times this can be run per week for drops like this.

Does it sound like Zero Hour? Yes….? It is at least very close and very difficult. You’ll almost certainly need a team for this, unless you’re a god, so keep that in mind so you don’t have to quit halfway like I did.

More to come, but for now, big moves and something meaningful and difficult is finally here.

Update: Alright, I beat him and got two drops plus the catalyst, including really the one perk I wanted:

Follow me on Twitter, Youtube and Instagram. Pick up my sci-fi novels Herokiller and Herokiller 2, and read my first series, The Earthborn Trilogy, which is also on audio book.
