Detailed Apple Watch sleep tracking, could be unveiled at the September 10 event

The Apple Watch could finally have its own sleep tracking features, which could be unveiled at the event organized by Apple on September 10th.

That's what 9to5Mac says and the word from internal sources at Cupertino that says sleep tracking for the smartwatch is in preparation. A report released in February of this year suggested that an Apple Watch with an integrated sleep tracking system was being tested before a major rollout by 2020.

The new native sleep tracking mode is apparently associated with the code name "Burrito" internally at Apple and more officially called "bedtime tracking". Interestingly, this mode will allow owners of several Apple Watch owners to choose the watch they want to bring to bed to keep up with their sleep.

It seems that the Apple Watch does not require any additional hardware to monitor sleep, adopting the same method of monitoring bedtime as other smart watches and sports watches. The Apple Watch will track movements, heart rate and noise to produce data on the quality of the user's sleep. Apparently, this data will be able to live in Apple's Health app and in a dedicated Sleep application.

While other smart watches offer the ability to follow sleep for quite some time, it's thought that one of the reasons why Apple did not follow suit was due to the shelf life of the battery of his own laptop. It seems that Apple will try to remedy this problem by offering users to remind their customers to recharge their watch before thinking about monitoring sleep time.

Apple's standby features seem to go beyond tracking. If a user wakes up before the alarm setup time, the watch will turn off automatically. Other features include a silent alarm option, a Do Not Disturb mode that automatically turns on when you go to bed and a dedicated sleep complication to display your dial data.

The next big Apple event is approaching the horizon, where we hope to see the Apple Watch Series 5. Hopefully this will be the time when we will be able to learn more about these native watch features.
