Rockstar Games has detailed their backward compatibility plans for a number of games, including Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and The black.
Despite the availability of an improved version of GTA V for PlayStation 5, players will be able to play the PlayStation 4 version of the game. PS Plus members will continue to receive 1,000,000 GTA every month they play GTA Online on the PS4 until the launch of the PS5 version in 2021. You can also play Red Dead Redemption 2, the recent PS4 version of The blackand PS VR LA Noire: VR files via backward compatibility.
As usual, those who have the aforementioned games on disc will need to insert the discs into their PS5 in order to play. Those who own digital copies will be able to download the games as long as they use the same PSN account to which the licenses are linked.
All your data can be transferred so that nothing is missed. You can transfer save files as well as complete games wirelessly, via LAN cables or with USB storage. You can also transfer your cloud backups. Additionally, Rockstar has confirmed that all of your “progress and achievements” will continue. This probably includes your trophies.
Here’s a list of all the other Rockstar Games titles that PlayStation players can transfer:
- Brute
- Grand Theft Auto III
- Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
- Grand Theft Auto Vice City
- Manhunt
- Max Payne
- Red Dead Revolver
- The Warriors
