New details have emerged regarding Bruce Springsteen’s arrest in November.
The 71-year-old rocker has been making headlines lately after being discovered earlier in the week he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence last November. This news was made worse by the fact that Springsteen starred in a Super Bowl commercial for Jeep on Sunday. This place has since been retired.
Springsteen was arrested on November 14 at Gateway National Recreation Area. He was charged with impaired driving, reckless driving and drinking alcohol in a closed area, National Park Service spokeswoman Brenda Ling said on Wednesday. The Hollywood Reporter. According to the arrest report obtained by news organizations, “Springsteen smelled strongly of alcohol coming out of his person and had glassy eyes,” Ranger RL Hayes wrote.
The ranger noted that the Grammy-winning musician allegedly admitted to consuming two doses of tequila in the past 20 minutes. “I asked Springsteen if he was leaving and he confirmed he was going to drive out of the park,” the report read. Springsteen, according to the report, initially refused a breath test. However, Asbury Park Press, citing a source close to Springsteen’s case, reported that at one point he had been tested and had a blood alcohol level of 0.02, which is only a quarter of the limit Jersey legal 0.08. The part of the arrest report released to the media did not include his blood alcohol level to be checked.
Springsteen’s arrest took place on federal land, which means the case will be handled by the US Attorney’s Office in Newark. His initial court appearance is imminent.
Springsteen has yet to comment publicly on the incident.
