FIRST ON FOX: The 911 caller who reported the domestic incident between Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie in Moab, Utah, believed the couple were arguing on the phone and Laundrie may be trying to get rid of his fiancée, according to one. testimonial obtained by Fox News.
“They were talking aggressively [at] each other [and] something really didn’t seem right, ”wrote the witness, identified only as Christopher. “At one point, they were sort of arguing over a phone – I think the man took the woman’s phone. It looked like he didn’t want her in the white van. “
The man, who would be Laundrie, climbed into the driver’s seat, according to Christopher, and the woman, who would be Petito, followed him around the van. This happened outside of the Moonflower Co-op, an organic grocery store in downtown Moab.

“I heard her say, ‘Why do you have to be so mean?'” The witness wrote.
He said that at one point he saw Petito allegedly “punching him in the arm” and trying to get inside the vehicle – which was registered in his name.

“From my perspective, something definitely didn’t look right,” Christopher wrote. “It was like the guy was trying to leave her, and maybe pick up his phone? Not sure, but he wanted to help her.”
Fox News Digital first reported on the August 12 domestic incident – which did not lead to any arrests. A police report and body camera video previously obtained by Fox News each concluded that Petito appeared to have been the assailant.
However, the 911 caller said he saw “the gentleman slap the girl”.
“Was he slapping her?” asked the dispatcher.
“Yeah, and then we pulled over,” said the caller, whose name was redacted on the recording. “They ran down the sidewalk. He started hitting her, jumped in the car and they drove off.”

Calling 911 said Petito and Laundrie set off in the van heading north – to Arches National Park just outside of town. This is where police body camera video shows officers stopped Laundrie, who was speeding, driving erratically and hitting the sidewalk, and encountered Petito sobbing.
Christopher’s statement also reports that he “noticed that another person called him.” Authorities told Fox News they had no record of a second call.
Laundrie reportedly returned to his parents’ home in North Port, Florida with the van on September 1, just days after Petito’s latest news. The FBI said on Sunday that search teams found remains that are likely those of Petito near Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
Federal and local law enforcement searched for the laundry in Florida on Tuesday – a day after the FBI served search warrants at the home he shared with his parents and Petito in North Port.
