A Brazilian woman who told Florida detectives gave birth to a baby girl then placed the newborn baby in a plastic bag and threw it into a dumpster.
The sheriff detectives from Palm Beach County arrested Rafael Alessandra Carbalho Sousa, 35, on Thursday night on charges of attempted murder and child abuse.
Earlier this week, the 6-pound, 8-ounce baby was found alive and taken to a local hospital. She is in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Sousa, through the intermediary of a Portuguese translator, told the detectives that she had been trying to get the baby to react by waiting for three hours so that he could breathe.
