Detention facility for migrants: Democrats reject Pence's description of detention facility

Several Democrats traveled to Texas on Saturday and visited the same facility as Vice President Mike Pence visited the day before. Massachusetts Democrat Jim McGovern tweeted A video of a group of migrants crammed behind a glass panel at the Border Patrol Station in McAllen, Texas.

He was one of the many legislators in the House to document the visit, showing cramped detainees on concrete floors and in cage cells.

"The cruelty of people sleeping on the ground and being held in such conditions for 60 days is incomprehensible," said Nydia Velazquez of New York.

Pence visited the same facility on Friday. He rejected the Democrat claims of an "invented crisis" and defended the border agents.

"These are difficult things," said Pence. And when we have an overflow, as in an overloaded system, the need for temporary installations is obvious. "

But the images contrasted strongly with a center for migrant families that the Vice President had visited earlier in the day, where he said that care was provided.

"One of the mothers just told me when I asked her how you treated here, she said" very good. "That's what the American people are expecting," said Pence.

The Vice President says that it is up to Congress to act. Legislators have already approved a $ 4.6 billion package for emergency funding at the border and Democrats say that they are working on new legislation.

President Trump said he could visit a detention center in the future.
