Whenever Dan Campbell is officially named the next Detroit Lions head coach, he will bring in at least one staff member from the New Orleans Saints.

The Lions are expected to add Saints defensive back coach Aaron Glenn as their next defensive coordinator, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday.

Glenn, 48, has been a Saints backfield coach since 2016 and worked as a DB assistant coach with the Cleveland Browns in 2014-15. His best student is cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who has made three Pro Bowls in four seasons since the Saints drafted him in the Ohio State first round in 2017.

Lions cornerback Jeff Okudah endorsed the move, write on twitter: “My 7V7 coach at @TheOpening back at HS! Let’s go” with a fist emoji.

Glenn played 15 seasons in the league as a cornerback and was three times All-Pro and three times Pro Bowl. The New York Jets drafted him 12th in the 1994 Texas A&M Draft. Despite being 5-foot-9, he finished his career with 41 interceptions, six of which returned for touchdowns. He played for the Jets (1994–2001), the Houston Texans (2002–04), the Dallas Cowboys (2005–06), the Jacksonville Jaguars (2007) and the Saints (2008).

Glenn interviewed the Tennessee Jets and Titans for their head coaching vacation on Jan.11.

The Lions are free to hire Campbell, the Saints’ assistant head coach and tight ends coach, after New Orleans was eliminated from the playoffs on Sunday.
