On Thursday, the Detroit Lions made a move that we all hope will finally be the catalyst to overthrow this damn franchise. The hiring of former Rams college personnel Brad Holmes received overwhelmingly positive reviews in the media on Thursday … but these things almost always seem to be unanimously welcomed.
So our podcast team got together for a special EMERGENCY PODCAST on Thursday night to find out what we love about renting, what we didn’t like and what that means for the future.
We go over Holmes’ impressive writing resume, strong character traits, but also bigger concerns like his lack of experience as a CEO or on the professional staff side. And how much of the Rams’ success is really on him against Sean McVay?
Some have called this hire the next Bob Quinn, but I explain in detail why I don’t think that’s the case.
Next, we will look at the impact of this hire on the search for head coaching in Detroit. Which candidates are now more likely to accept the job? Which candidates may be disgraced?
Note: this podcast was recorded before Robert Saleh took over as Jets. So please ignore all of Saleh’s takes.
