Dior refuses to drop Johnny Depp after his loss in defamation case

Dior does not back down on Johnny Depp.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star has long been the face of the aptly named Eau de Cologne Sauvage – and it looks like it will stay that way, according to a report.

This week, an advertisement for the perfume featuring Depp playing the guitar appeared on UK television during ‘The Great British Bake Off’ – although a UK judge found he regularly beat the ex-wife Amber Heard as he lost a libel case against a British newspaper earlier this month.

The actor was paid between $ 3 million and $ 5 million for the spot, according to The Guardian.

British public relations expert Mark Bokowski told the newspaper he supports Dior’s removal of Depp, but understands why they did not.

“I think it would be wise for Dior to sever ties with Depp,” Bokowski said. “Everything can be stopped with the push of a button if they really want to.”

High-priced aftershave is no stranger to outrage. After his 2015 launch of Depp as a spokesperson, he faced harsh criticism for his cultural appropriation and “racist” portrayal of Native Americans in commercials featuring Depp.

Dior is one of the only brands to stand by Depp’s side after losing his defamation lawsuit against the Sun and was disgraced by Warner Bros. and his “Fantastic Beasts” franchise because of his “woman thresher” court ruling.
