Director John Singleton in a coma after a "serious stroke"

The state of John Singleton is worse than the one originally reported.

The director of 51 years behind the movies whose Boyz n the Hood, Poetic Justice and 2 fast 2 Furious was hospitalized at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles last week after falling ill after a trip to Costa Rica. While undergoing medical care, he suffered a stroke, described as "benign", but apparently he was not.

His mother, Sheila Ward, has filed legal documents obtained by The Blast in which she asks to be named her curator and to "make all medical decisions" for him.

Ward said that Singleton had "suffered a severe stroke" and "is currently in a coma and unable to support himself."

Singleton's mother is moving out due to a "financial emergency". According to the newspaper, the director was "engaged in several commercial projects" when he had a stroke that she has to face – as well as to "make medical decisions" for him.

According to the report, the doctor stated in his documentation that his doctor suffered from "a major deficiency of motor and psychological abilities, including his ability to reason logically".

During his hospitalization, Singleton suffered a stroke on April 17. Although he was in intensive care, the word that has been announced is that his stroke is "benign". Nevertheless, his famous friends, including Snoop Dogg and Spike Lee, offered to pray for him and encourage others to do the same.

A judge has not yet ruled at Ward's request.
