Disabled servers for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

WB Games announced Thursday that it has quietly turned off online services for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor just two days before. This means that the Nemesis Forge and Vendetta missions from the 2014 game are no longer available to players.

Nemesis Forge functionality has been added to Shadow of Mordor shortly before the continuation of 2017 Middle-earth: Shadow of War. With it, players could play in a sandbox environment, with all skills unlocked, against the biggest orcish enemies they had built during their main game. This also ends the possibility of importing your Nemesis or Follower from Shadow of Mordor in Shadow of war, although Shadow of warOnline support is not affected.

Vendetta missions tasked players with killing an orc captain who had killed another (human) player on their friend list. It was linked to the “Repaid in Blood” achievement / trophy (his instructions: “complete a Vendetta mission”), which WB Games said would always be awarded (he didn’t say how).

The achievements “The Hunt is My Mistress” and “Lord of the Ring” are also unlockable, although access to the leaderboards is now closed. “The Hunt is My Mistress” is part of the “Test of the Wild” challenge mode of the Trials of War DLC, and “Lord of the Ring” was given for the “Test of the Ring” challenge.

The “Orc Hunter” and “Gravewalker” epic runes are now automatically assigned to all players as they cannot log into the WBPlay platform to collect them.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor was developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. Games in September 2014 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. It was a commercial and critical success, garnering several nods of the year. The following, Shadow of war, was also developed by Monolith, and improved the “Nemesis system” which procedurally generated enemy bosses based on their encounters with the player.
