The first full trailer for the Abandoned PlayStation 5 survival game, set to debut on August 10 in the title’s previously released Realtime Experience app, has missed its release window. The mysterious game developer, Blue Box Game Studios, had promised that the footage would debut at 9 p.m. CET – but more than four hours after the fact, “technical problems” are reported.
“We are working to obtain [the patch] live as quickly as possible, ” the team said. “We apologize for the inconvenience caused.” A few hours later, he added: “We are still working on it. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.” The idea, in our opinion, was for the app to be updated on the PS5 so that fans could watch the trailer, rendered in real time on their consoles.
There are two possibilities here: Blue Box Game Studios realized that it was impossible to release a PS5 patch on time, especially with the way Sony operates these days. Alternatively, he still doesn’t have a full trailer to show, and he just buys himself a little more time. After all, this isn’t the first time the developer has missed a deadline.
He showed a brief five-second clip, presumably from the trailer, on Twitter early in the day. The hype builder simply shows a wooden floor and a man in a suit walking on it. As has become common for this game, engagement is at its peak: it garnered nearly 10,000 likes as it was typed – those are the kinds of numbers that AAA blockbusters would be proud of.
Alas, as of this writing, there is nothing more to see than the apologies from the Dutch developer. Things can change overnight, and of course we’ll keep you posted when we know more.
