Discord Nitro games disappear next month because most users have not even read them

Discord announced that it would remove all Nitro games, nearly a year after adding a collection of games to the paid subscription service. On October 15, 2019, users will no longer have access to more than 100 games included with the service.

According to an article on Discord's official blog, the removal boils down to the simple fact that few players have actually played at one of the games.

Last year, Discord started offering a game library to all users who paid for the Nitro subscription. This is a premium level of Discord that also offers users a variety of bonus features, including larger file download limits, streaming video options, and server enhancements.

After a year of reviewing data and listening to users, Discord determined that most Nitro subscribers were not playing free games. So, instead of renewing various contracts for these free games for another year, Discord decided to end the Nitro gaming program and remove all games from the service.

Nitro and Nitro Classic, a cheaper offer with fewer options, will remain available and Discord plans to add new features to these services.

Discord also stated that all games purchased by users via Discord will still be available. The only games removed are the games included with Nitro subscriptions.
