Discord is launching its Threads feature today to allow servers to improve the back-and-forth of conversations on the service. Threads work very similar to the way they work in many other chat clients, allowing Discord users to step away from a conversation from a main channel stream. A separate feed is generated for thread conversations, and Discord server administrators will be able to control which members of a server can participate in threads. Discord also introduces public and private discussion threads. Public discussion threads for a channel will allow all members with permission to send messages to start and reply to discussion threads, but private discussion threads will allow certain members to create and chat online. private. Discord will automatically archive threads within 24 hours to try to reduce channel clutter. You will still be able to read threads in an archive tab, but you will not be able to reply to them once they are archived. Discussion threads will open in a split view panel in Discord, with an option to view a thread in full screen by clicking on it in the channel list.
