All the test vehicles taken from the Nordschleife seemed to have most of the production parts, although the quad exhaust might look nicer on the final version.
The sound you hear comes from a new straight six-cylinder engine codenamed "S58". Discovered for the first time in the X3 M and X4 M models, the 3.0-liter crusher will produce 473 horsepower and 600 km. like in both performance SUVs. If that were not enough, more expensive competition in M3 will unlock 503 horses, as in competition SUVs.
Some bonuses will be borrowed from the larger M5, relevant examples being the active damper system and the electronic steering configuration. At an additional cost, M3 owners will be able to opt for carbon-ceramic brakes with superior braking power for track use.
The new M3 is expected to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and be on sale by the end of the year or early 2020.
