Discovery Plus, Discovery’s new streaming channel, launches today and does so on both Roku and Amazon’s Fire TV. This means it avoids the confusion that ensued when HBO Max and Peacock streaming channels launched in 2020 without the initial Roku and Fire TV options.

Roku is an important partner for new streamers, bringing its audience to around 46 million active accounts. WarnerMedia finally made the terms to bring its HBO Max streaming channel to Roku in December after a months-long standoff over Roku’s fees and just before the launch of Wonder Woman 1984, which debuted on HBO Max and in theaters on Christmas Day. Peacock launched in July and struck a deal with Roku in September. HBO Max hit Fire TV devices in November.
Discovery Plus will include several shows from the pillars of the Discovery Channel, such as 90 day fiancé, as well as new versions of old favorites. The range will include new House hunters series; a new series on travel and gastronomy by Bobby Flay and Giada de Laurentiis of the Food Network; a new Medium Long Island series; and a new series from Chip and Joanna Gaines of Magnolia Network, hosts of Fix Upr home repair series.
In addition to Roku and Amazon Fire TV, Discovery Plus is fully integrated with the Apple TV app and is available on iOS devices; Google and Android platforms, including Chromecast; Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S; as well as 2017 and newer Samsung smart TVs. It is not yet available on PlayStation.
Discovery Plus will start at $ 4.99 per month for the ad-supported version, and an ad-free version is available for $ 6.99 per month.
