The problem of boycotting Mulan in China only worsens for Disney after Mulan star Yifei Liu declared that she was supporting the Hong Kong police.
Yifei Liu, the star of the upcoming Disney movie Mulan adaptation, posted to its 65 million subscribers on Weibo: "I support the Hong Kong police, you can beat me now", while including the hashtag: "IAlsoSupportTheHongKongPolice". As there are currently numerous reports of police brutality against pro-democracy protesters, Yifei Liu's statement was immediately controversial. Politics aside for a moment, many fans pointed out that Liu's statement seemed hypocritical given that Mulan is a young woman fighting against wrongdoing. This directly led to the #BoycottMulan trend in response to Disney's silence on the issue.
And as protesters plan a protest in Disney Hong Kong in the coming days, time is running out for the company to make a statement about its situation. Since Mulan was released in March 2020, interviews and press junkets could easily be dominated by the democratic subject rather than the film itself. If the protesters end up in Disney Park in response to Yifei Liu's comments on social media, Disney will have to choose his side as soon as possible. Stanley Rosen, USC professor and Chinese entertainment specialist, deepened the issue when he spoke with The Hollywood Reporter:
"Disney can not support the protesters because their business in China is too big, but obviously they can not be perceived as too big a prey for China either, because it could also be against us, depending on Situation in Hong Kong. "

The universe DC launches the characters posters of "Doom Patrol"
With the first of the first teaser for Doom Patrol, DC Universe has also launched a collection of character posters for each of the character team members perhaps the strangest to be adapted as a real action for DC Comics.
