Just a few days ago, Disney CEO Bob Chapek said the following about the impact of the Delta variant on their theme park business:
“Regarding the Delta variant, we see that the strong demand for our fleets continues. “

Despite this claim, Walt Disney World is seeing a definite impact from cancellations and the refusal of tourists to travel at the end of the summer.
According to inside sources, the occupancy rate of hotels on the Disney property is expected to be 93% this coming weekend. It is now expected to reach only 65%. Overall, they see the occupancy rate drop by about 10% week to week.
Similar numbers are also being reported by non-Disney hotels in the area, at least the ones we spoke to.
With school resumption in most of the United States and with this slowdown in travel, the theme parks at Walt Disney World are significantly less crowded right now. In fact, the boarding groups for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance were available until 4 p.m. one night, and eventually, they even allowed guests to enter without a boarding group. This is the first time this has happened at Walt Disney World.
