Disney pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman on birthday with new ‘Black Panther’ opening credits

The beloved actor died on August 28 from cancer.

The Walt Disney Co. honored Chadwick Boseman on Sunday on what would have been the deceased actor’s 44th birthday.

On Disney +, new opening credits have been added to Black Panther. The video was also shared by Marvel Studios on social media.

Approximately 30 seconds long, the Marvel credit scene is a montage of Boseman’s beloved work as King T’Challa, aka Black Panther. The Marvel logo is all purple. “Long live the king. #WakandaForever, ”the Marvel Studios Twitter post read.

“To all #BlackPanther fans: watch the movie on #DisneyLater tonight for a special tribute to someone who was and always will be close to our hearts,” Disney President Bob Iger said on Saturday.

Boseman died on August 28 from cancer. He had never spoken publicly about his diagnosis and his passing shocked and devastated Hollywood and fans around the world.

Marvel is preparing now Black panther 2 for a shoot that will begin in Atlanta in July and will last more than six months. Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta, who was one of the stars of Netflix Narcos: Mexico, is in talks to play one of the antagonists. Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett are expected to return for the new feature.
