Disneyland visitors will need to keep their credit cards handy now that they can pay for their frontline seat on Rise of the Resistance, Web Slingers, and many other popular Anaheim Theme Park rides.

Disneyland has announced the 19 frontline Genie + rides and three paid Lightning Lane individual attractions that will be available through the new Disney Genie mobile app when it launches this fall.

The Disney Genie app will debut on October 19 at all four theme parks at Walt Disney World in Florida. A launch date for the Genie app at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will be announced very soon, according to Disney officials. Expect the West Coast version of the Genie service to roll out as part of the existing Disneyland app between late October and late December.

Disneyland visitors won’t be required to use the Genie service, but the digital planning tool will become an essential part of any visit to the parks.

Disney’s new personal assistant app will be divided into three parts: the free Disney Genie route planner feature; Disney Genie + $ 20 replacement for the old free FastPass and paid MaxPass line cut benefits; and the Lightning Lane individual option which charges $ 7 to $ 15 to upgrade to the top row of the most popular rides.

The $ 20 Disney Genie + service is essentially the same as the $ 20 MaxPass that Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have been offering since 2017. Free FastPass will be part of Disneyland’s history once the paid Genie + replacement is launched.

At Disney World, the Individual Lightning Lane option allows visitors to pay $ 7 to $ 15 for front-line access to select attractions that are not part of the Genie + paid line of rides. The individual costs of Lightning Lane have yet to be finalized at Disneyland and DCA.

Disneyland will only have one Lightning Lane attraction at launch: Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Individual Lightning Lane attractions at Disney California Adventure will be the new Web Slingers: Spider-Man Adventure in Avengers Campus and the crowd-favorite Radiator Springs Racers in Cars Land.

Visitors to Disneyland and DCA will be able to select up to two individual Lightning Lane attractions per day. And no, you can’t choose Rise of the Resistance twice a day, even if you want to.

The Disneyland website is careful to mention that all 19 attractions on the Genie + list will be part of the paid frontline “at launch” service.

The Walt Disney World Resort has twice as many parks as the Disneyland Resort and 46 attractions on its Genie + list, giving a glimpse of what the future may hold for Disney Parks in California.

Six Disneyland attractions that are not currently on the Genie + list are on the Disney World lineup: Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan’s Flight, Mad Tea Party, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh bear cub.

Three DCA attractions that are not currently on the Genie + list are on the Disney World lineup: Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure; Mickey’s Philharmonic; and Turtle Talk with Crush.

Two other Genie + attractions from Disney’s Hollywood Studios have DCA parallels: Alien Swirling Saucers is a clone of Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and “Beauty and the Beast live on stage” is the Broadway equivalent of “Frozen Live at the Hyperion” .

Two nightly shows – “Fantasmic” at Disneyland and “World of Color” at DCA – were part of the old FastPass options. They could reappear as Genie + options once they return from their extended pandemic hibernation.
