ANAHEIM, Calif .– Disneyland is ending its annual pass program 10 months after the theme park closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the theme park announced Thursday.

Anaheim Park, Calif., Said it would start issuing pro-rated refunds to eligible pass holders.

“Due to the continued uncertainty of the pandemic and the limitations surrounding the reopening of our theme parks in California, we will issue appropriate refunds for eligible Disneyland Resort annual passports and cancel the current program,” said Ken Potrock, president of Disneyland Resort, in a statement. He said the park will develop new membership offers for when it can reopen.

Disney officials wouldn’t say how many people are holding those passes or how much the move will cost the company.

The announcement comes the same week that Disneyland allowed county health officials to use its parking lot for a large-scale coronavirus vaccination site.

Disneyland closed in March and has not reopened since, as coronavirus measures in the county where the park is located have not declined to state required levels.

California health officials said large theme parks like Disneyland could only reopen when transmission hit minimum levels and then park capacity would be capped at 25% and reservations would be required.

California has seen an increase in coronavirus cases in recent months, which has resulted in many business closures and nighttime curfews across much of the state.
