“No character shines a light on the cruelty of wearing fur or skinning dogs better than Cruella, but PETA’s praise will be on the paws until Disney takes action to stop a 1996 rehearsal, when the Animal shelters have been inundated with Dalmatians allegedly bought and thrown away by 101 Dalmatian fans who were not prepared for the puppies to grow, ”Lisa Lange, senior vice president of PETA, recently told CBR. “The devil is in the details, and Cruella needs to remind viewers that animals are individuals – not props – and adopt them.”

The release of the trailer also got fans talking about the similarities between Emma Stone’s Cruella and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, with graphic designer BossLogic even posting a mockup of Stone-as-Quinn.

In the BossLogic edition, Stone is pictured with a half red, half black hairstyle, eyeliner, and matching clothes. Her face also features Quinn-esque white makeup, red lips, and Quinn’s Three of Diamonds black face tattoo. The artist captioned his interpretation: “I hear you”.
