(WJRT) – (5/3/2019) – There's a new C-D-C warning tonight that may lead you to rethink how you prepared dinner.
Doctors say you should * not * wash the raw chicken before cooking it.
This only increases the chances of contamination.
According to the CDC, by washing the raw chicken in the sink, it is possible that uncooked chicken germs eventually spill into the kitchen, contaminating the sink, other surfaces, utensils or dishes.
Here are some tips to make sure your chicken preparation is safe:
– Carry the chicken in a separate bag when you leave the grocery store.
– Wash your hands with soap and water before and after handling raw meat.
– Always use a separate cutting board.
– Never place cooked food on this cutting board.
– and when done – wash everything that may have come into contact with the chicken – including the counter.
