The One UI 4.0 beta went live for the Galaxy S21 series yesterday, and fans in multiple countries can sign up through the Members app and test the firmware beta before it’s ready for widespread release. As usual, it is not advisable to install beta firmware on your daily driver, and there are some limitations to be aware of. For example, not all Good Lock modules are compatible with One UI 4.0 beta firmware.
A representative from the Samsung community addressed this issue earlier today and confirmed that only a limited number of Good Lock modules are available for One UI 4.0 beta testers. Namely: LockStar, Routine +, One Hand Operation +, Pentastic, Wonderland, ThemePark, NiceCatch and Edge Touch.
No more Good Lock mods will be available throughout the beta
The Good Lock mods mentioned above will be the only ones available throughout the beta period. According to the Community Manager, the remaining unsupported Good Lock module in the beta of One UI 4.0 will be available after the beta period ends and One UI 4.0 will be available to the public.
Samsung wants to bring One UI 4.0 to the public as soon as possible; However, testing software takes time, and the company will want to make sure One UI 4.0 is in good shape before it reaches customers. The tech giant aims to unleash “An optimized finish [One UI 4.0] upgrade later this year.
As for Good Lock, unfortunately the experimental platform remains limited to just over a dozen countries, although there are reasons for its limited scope – the word “experimental” should be a clue. Nonetheless, Samsung confirmed earlier this summer that new Good Lock features are on the way. The company also hinted that the platform could launch in other regions soon.
Keep in mind that the first beta of One UI 4.0 introduces over 60 new features, so there is a lot to look forward to even if the beta firmware does not support all Good Lock modules.
