I do not know why you put your plastic phone in a plastic case, but it's certainly a possibility. So I'm curious to see if the general feelings about the protection of your smartphones have changed.
For me, I finally grew up and realized that it was better to be safe than to be sorry. On my Galaxy S10 + and now my OnePlus 7 Pro, I use a holster, simply because I'm afraid of losing these expensive and relatively delicate objects in a thousand pieces. Although I hate extra weight and girth, it's the price you pay to protect what you love.
