Dobbs inactive for Steelers for Wild Card game against Browns

The Pittsburgh Steelers are ready for their playoff game against the Cleveland Browns at Heinz Field. The last step in establishing their roster for the game is announcing the inactive roster. After raising tight end Kevin Rader of the practice squad on Saturday, the inactive roster is made up of six players. With no players with injury status for the game, the Steelers roster is made up entirely of healthy stripes.

While some wanted to see the Steelers use quarterback Joshua Dobbs as their pace change quarterback, much like he was in Week 17 when Ben Roethlisberger was ruled out, Dobbs returned to his normal place on the inactive list. Although head coach Mike Tomlin hinted that the Steelers might have active Dobbs for this reason, the Steelers went with their two standard quarterbacks active on game day.

While offensive lineman Matt Feiler officially dropped off the reserve / injured roster on Saturday, the Steelers had an additional offensive lineman than was required to be dressed on game day. With four guards on the roster, Danny Isidora is the man at the bottom of the depth map and therefore inactive.

As the Steelers racing game continues to struggle, dressing four running backs is not a luxury the team can afford. As a result, rookie Anthony McFarland is inactive as the other two reserve running backs offer special team contributions while McFarland does not.

Defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs, linebacker Jayrone Elliott and goaltender Antoine Brooks Jr round out the Steelers’ inactive roster. All three have been active several times during the season, but have also been inactive when the Steelers failed. are not injured.
