Dodger Stadium vaccination site closed amid protests

The Dodger Stadium COVID-19 mass vaccination site was closed on Saturday afternoon as dozens of protesters gathered at the entrance, blocking hundreds of motorists who had lined up for hours.

Los Angeles firefighters closed the entrance to the stadium around 2 p.m. as a precaution, officials said.

The protesters included members of anti-vaccine and far-right groups. While some carried signs decrying the COVID-19 vaccine and shouting for people not to get the vaccine, there were no incidents of violence.

“This is completely false,” said German Jaquez, who had left his home in La Verne and had been waiting an hour for his vaccination when the stadium gates were closed. He said some of the protesters were telling people online that the coronavirus is not real and that the vaccination is dangerous.

“This is the wrong message,” Jaquez said. “I’ve been waiting for weeks to have an appointment. I am a dentist; I take a big risk of being surrounded by patients. I want to be safe for my patients and my family. The vaccine is the only way to beat the virus. “

An official said firefighters plan to reopen the vaccination site around 3 p.m. The site, one of the largest in the country, is generally open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A social media post described the protest as the “SCAMDEMIC / WALK PROTEST”. He advised attendees to “please refrain from wearing the Trump / MAGA outfit as we want our statement to resonate with the sheep. No flags but informative signs only.

“This is an information-sharing demonstration and a march against any COVID, vaccine, PCR tests, lockdown, masks, Fauci, Gates, Newsom, China, digital tracking, etc.”
