Tommy Lasorda – a Dodgers legend and arguably the most famous manager in MLB history – has passed away, TMZ Sports confirmed.
He was 93 years old.
The Dodgers released a statement Friday morning … saying Lasorda suffered sudden cardiac arrest at his home in California and was rushed to hospital with resuscitation underway.
He was pronounced dead Thursday evening at 10:57 p.m.
As we previously reported, Lasorda was admitted to a Southern California hospital in mid-November in “serious condition” … and required sedation. He was too put a fan.
But Tommy’s condition has improved over the past few weeks … and just a few days ago, he went back home.
However, tragically, Lasorda died on Thursday.
“Words cannot express my feelings”, legendary manager Bobby valentine said on Twitter. “A friend and mentor of 52 years is no longer with us. Tommy no one will ever fill the void you left. Thanks for everything. RIP”
Lasorda was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997. He led Los Angeles to World Series titles in 1981 and 1988.
Lasorda also won the Manager of the Year award twice in 1983 and 1988.
“In a franchise that has celebrated such great legends in the game, no one who wears the uniform has embodied the Dodger spirit as much as Tommy Lasorda,” said the Dodgers president. Stan Cabinets said.
“A tireless spokesperson for baseball, his dedication to the sport and the team he loved was second to none.”

Kasten continued, “The Dodgers and their fans will be sorely missed. Tommy is simply irreplaceable and unforgettable.”
Lasorda wasn’t just a big deal on the baseball field … he became an incredibly popular pitch man in the ’90s – with ads for brands like Slim Fast.
