Does Godzilla vs Kong have a post-credits scene? Well, sort of

Godzilla vs. Kong is streaming now on HBO Max (here is how to see it). If you’ve watched the classic Clash of the Monsters, you might have wondered why there wasn’t a post-credits scene. Director Adam Wingard told SyFy Wire there are two good reasons. Surprisingly, one of them is that viewers have seen the scene before the credits roll.

“We actually shot a post-credits scene, but ended up using it in the movie,” Wingard told the post, but did not reveal the scene. He went on to say that it was “one of those things where we shot it as an idea, and we got into the editorial and realized that” we need a moment at a certain moment of the film “. [so] we ended up taking those footage and using it in a different context from the movie and it really, really worked for us. “

The other reason has to do with the unknown future of the movie Monsterverse. Typically, post-credits scenes draw viewers with a hint of a possible sequel or follow-up movie, and as of right now, there isn’t a specific project for another movie in the series. So not having a post-credits scene is the right decision, Wingard said.

“I think it’s 100% the right choice,” he said, “because it’s the crossroads for the Monsterverse.”
