Does Mark Ingram make sense for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021?

The Baltimore Ravens got a head start on the NFL cup season by releasing several players, including running back Mark Ingram, who was officially eliminated on Tuesday.

Ingram won’t be able to claim waivers until after the Super Bowl next month. But it’s likely that Ingram won’t be claimed as he has $ 5million left on his 2021 contract … that’s a lot of money for a 31-year-old running back who has just finished an injury-filled season .

Still, if Ingram becomes a free agent, he could be of interest to the Raiders.

It looks like Raiders coach Jon Gruden will still be looking for a backup running back behind starter Josh Jacobs, a former Alabama star like Ingram.

Devontae Booker, the Raiders’ replacement for Jacobs in 2020, is a free agent and he could hit the market.

Ingram seems to fit the Gruden profile. He was a successful veteran with leadership skills. He weighs 215 pounds and Gruden loves bigger tailbacks.

Ingram missed five games and only had 72 run attempts in 2020. However, he has passed the 1,000-yard mark in three of the previous four seasons.

I don’t see Ingram as a priority for the Raiders this offseason, but now that he’s coming to market, it’s worth considering.
