Does Mike D'Antoni have a toast? – SBNation.com

It seems that the Rockets are making a number of changes to Mike D'Antoni's staff, even beyond the release of Jeff Bzdelik. Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports that on Friday, assistant coaches Roy Rogers and Mitch Vanya, video coordinator John Cho and player development assistant (and James Harden coach) Irv Roland were informed that they would not come back no more.

The problem seems to be that the Rockets have already opted for the 2019-2020 option on D'Antoni's contract before last season … but did not do it for the assistant coaches. So their contracts are up. D'Antoni said he wanted to train three more seasons and he was looking for an extension of the Rockets to not get into the season like a lame duck. But he has not had this extension yet.

Marc Stein, New York Times, shares the hubbub that the Rockets – especially the Tilman Fertitta franchisee – maybe try to convince D'Antoni to resign on his own, although Fertitta said the coach would be back next season. If D'Antoni stays out of overtime (the most likely scenario at this stage), it will be quite difficult to fill his bench since most quality assistant coaches want more than a commitment of more than a year.

D'Antoni and Daryl Morey, who have had an extension during the off-season, may be at odds with the subtle arguments, and that's the way Morey proposes to change things. Even if it is not true, in the absence of clarity, pushes a rumor. And firing four people a few weeks after the end of the disappointing season is certainly a good fertilizer for these rumors.

The scores

We will not be able to list the scores of the WNBA every day, because we will soon find ourselves in an off-season schedule, but HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WINNING STUDY OF TEIARA MCCOWAN BUZZER-BEATING IN ITS FIRST WNBA GAME??! Dear friends, hitting a winner in your rookie debut is beautiful, very good. Especially considering the fact that Indiana Fever is 1-0. Last season, they started 0-10 and finished 6-28. Catch the fever!

Connections

This meeting between Raptors and Bucks on Saturday night is obviously the biggest game in franchise history in Toronto, as well as the biggest match in 18 years for Milwaukee (coming back to the seventh game of the Eastern Conference final of 2001). The T-Dot arena is going to be something. Jurassic Park is going to be something. Drake is going to be something. As a long time passionate about Raptors and Raptors, I'm ready. Let's go.
