Dog the Bounty Hunter claims to have led Brian Laundrie

Dog the Bounty Hunter thinks a Florida campsite may be the key to finding Long Island’s runaway boyfriend Gabby Petito.

TV star Duane “Dog” Chapman told Fox News he received information that Brian Laundrie and his parents camped together at De Sota Park in Pinellas County on two occasions in early September. But only two people were seen leaving.

Chapman says the family made two trips to De Sota, September 1-3 and September 6-8. For the second trip, three people entered but only two left, he said.

“They were registered, walked through the door,” he said, according to Fox. “They are in front of the camera. They were there.”

The revelation comes as TMZ said Chapman and his new wife Francis Frane apparently found a “cool” campsite in the Florida woods.

Dog has informed authorities of the discovery and believes there is unspecified evidence linking Laundrie’s parents to the site, TMZ said.

Laundrie’s parents, Chris and Roberta, denied any knowledge or involvement in Brian’s disappearance in a statement through their lawyer on Monday.

“The speculation by the public and by some in the press that the parents helped Brian to leave the family home or avoid arrest under a warrant issued after Brian had already been missing for several days is simply untrue.” lawyer Steven Bertolino said in a statement.

Dog joined the hunt in Laundrie on Saturday and was seen by reporters knocking on the door of Laundrie’s parents’ house in North Port, Florida. The parents did not answer the door.

The bounty hunter told the Post that day he planned to catch Laundrie by his 24e birthday, November 18. He said many early tips he received on his 833-TELLDOG helpline indicated that Laundrie was somewhere along the Appalachian Trail where he was known to spend time camping.

“That’s the most leads coming up right now that say that,” Dog told The Post.

As of Monday, he had received more than 1,000 leads on the hotline, he said in an interview with Fox News’ “Fox and Friends”.

“I would say within 48 hours we’ll probably have a place to start tracking,” Dog said in the interview.

Laundrie, 23, has not been charged with Petito’s death, but he is a wanted man for allegedly using someone else’s bank card in Wyoming in late August – roughly when Petito, 22, lost communication with his family. The prosecution does not say whether the card belonged to Petito.

The young couple had embarked on an ill-fated cross-country trip, but Laundrie returned home to Florida on September 1 without his girlfriend. When Petito’s family reported his disappearance on September 11, Laundrie and his family refused to speak to the police.

He fled soon after, triggering a massive search when his parents reported him missing a few days later.
