Dog the Bounty Hunter has quit his search for Brian Laundrie due to injury.
The reality TV star, 68, has conducted a high-profile search for the 23-year-old fugitive who is wanted for the murder of his fiancée Gabby Petito.
Dog, real name Duane Chapman, has returned to Colorado while his team remains looking in Florida.
Josh Benson of the Florida newspaper WFLA confirmed Chapman injured his ankle during the search.
“DOG. I just got an update from the Dog the Bounty Hunter team. They say he’s heading back to Colorado soon to see his doctor after injuring his ankle during the search,” he said. Benson tweeted.
“He is also raising money to pursue what he calls ‘expensive research’.”
Benson confirmed that Chapman assembled a team to continue the search in his absence.
He added: “The team says he has built up a talented network of local team members that he calls the ‘Florida team’ who will continue research while he is away. He says he will continue to process prospects in Colorado while he’s there. “
Meanwhile, Chapman’s daughter Lyssa Chapman also confirmed that her father had returned to Colorado to “take care of some business.”
“Dad went back to Colorado temporarily to run some business. (Remember he was in Florida on his honeymoon),” she tweeted.
Before embarking on the search for Laundrie, Chapman has just remarried with his new wife Francie Frane.
Lyssa Chapman added, “We are still actively researching #BrianLaundrie, leaving a team in place in Florida. As always, anything I can share with you, I will.”
However, in another tweet, she added: “I have been asked not to share active information due to the large amount of media surrounding the matter.”
This update from Lyssa, known as Baby Lyssa on her father’s reality show, came after she allegedly teased “big news” in a tweet which was later deleted.
A police search is underway for the laundry on the Carlton Reservation near her family home in North Port, Florida, but police said they had yet to find any evidence of the man who was seen for the last time by his parents on September 13.
Chapman’s search has mainly focused on the islands near Fort De Soto Parkin, and the team is also investigating clues that the fugitive was spotted on the Appalachian Trail.
In an interview with The sun Over the weekend, Chapman speculated (without proof) that Laundrie could be a serial killer, based on some of the books he read being “unbelievable” and “10 times worse than Dungeon and Dragons.”
Chapman also called some of Laundrie’s social media posts “demonic.”
Laundrie is wanted for questioning in connection with the death of Gabby Petito, who disappeared while the couple were on a road trip. Petito’s remains were found in Wyoming several days ago.
The laundry has not been altered for any crime, is not wanted in connection with another missing person, nor is it suspected of any other crime.
