Joaquin “ El Chapo ” Guzman’s wife was arrested Monday in Virginia at Dulles International Airport on charges of international drug trafficking, prosecutors accusing her of participating in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana for import into the United States.
Emma Coronel Aisupuro is also accused of conspiring with others to help El Chapo during his escape from Altiplano prison in July 2015 and prosecutors said she was also planning with others to organize another prison break for the King of Drugs before his extradition to the United States in January 2017.
She will make her first appearance on Tuesday practically in DC District Court.
