Maybe if Samara from The ring had her priorities in order, she too could crawl out of a static TV and into the hearts of European MTV viewers this weekend. But she doesn’t, leaving Doja Cat the favorite contestant to slip out of the boob tube and smash a metal version of her hit song “Say So” at MTV EMA on Sunday.
Given the sheer number of times Doja has performed “Say So” this year, whether in the song’s music video, the Billboard Music Awards, or the MTV VMAs, it would be a challenge to keep a hit fresh, but on Sunday she succeeded, combining his lyrics with intense guitar accompaniment, a visual Evanescence vibe, and a spooky team of prosthetic animal rockers acting as a rescue group. Because if you don’t get your shell out, Doja is absolutely getting out of her TV.
