Dolly Parton shares her thoughts on Britney Spears’ controversial tutelage.

During Parton’s rise to fame, she teamed up with Wagoner, a well-known country singer and TV host, and when she parted ways with him to go out on her own, it led to a six-year very public legal battle. He sued her for $ 3 million for breach of contract and they finally settled out of court.
Spears has been under guardianship, with her father Jamie at the helm, since 2008. Since last fall, she has been legally trying to remove him from his role, and things exploded in June when she broke her silence in court by June, accusing him of abuse of guardianship. (He argued that he always acted in his daughter’s best interests.)
On Monday, Spears’ new attorney formally requested Jamie’s dismissal as curator, and that’s something backed by the star’s own medics, as new legal documents filed in the case show this week.
During the Parton WWHL interview, she also revealed that she used the royalties earned on Whitney Houston’s epic rendition of her song “I Will Always Love You” – which was written about her separation from Wagoner – to support a black neighborhood (see below):
