Dolphins looking to trade for OT?

With about a month to go to the start of the season, it looks like the Dolphins aren’t too happy with their offensive line. Miami is “looking for an offensive tackle depth and is ready to make a trade” for one, The Athletic’s Michael Lombardi hears (Twitter connect).

Austin jackson is blocked as a starting left tackle, but there is some uncertainty in front of him. The team wrote Liam Eichenberg in the second round of that final draft, but it looks like he’s set to kick inside and play guard to start his professional career. From now on, the starter on the right tackle would be Jesse davis, a 2015 UDFA who has been an average starter for them in recent seasons.

Perhaps the biggest worry is that they have very little beyond them if Jackson or Davis fall, so it is possible that they are just looking for a veteran swing tackle. It is not known exactly who would be available now in a store. If they wanted to make a splash, they should have done it earlier in the offseason, when guys like Orlando Brown Jr. were available.

Miami chose not to do much to address the free agency position. Notably, they passed the Oregon tackle Penei Sewell with the sixth pick in the draft, taking on the Alabama wide receiver Jaylen waddles while Sewell went seventh to the Lions.m
