Domingo German vs. Michael Pineda is a battle of two pitchers who both have good things. In Pineda's career, there were a lot of throws, innings and matches and you understood perfectly why the Yankees persisted with him. A combination of inconsistency and Tommy John's surgery ultimately required the departure of the team.
In some ways, the rotation of German last year was at Pineda. It was inconsistent, but there were good flashes in there. A year later, we understand why they stuck to him and gave him another shot. We also understand why the Yankees have gone from Pineda.
The German gave the Yankees 6.2 solid runs, allowing only one point on four hits and three walks. There was also a lot of jumps and misses one more time, while he wiped out seven. On the other side, the Yankees scored Pineda for four points in five innings. That proved the difference in the final score, while the Yankees won the final of the 4-1 series.
The mark began in the second minute, as Pineda was about to come off the pitch after completing the basics. With two outs in the sleeve, DJ LeMahieu has one in the center. Jorge Polanco made a very good effort to go to the ball, but did a little too much afterwards. His shot on first base was wild and far from the mark as he bounced in front of the first baseman. It was judged that the shot was a mistake and that the Yankees had a two-run lead.
The German has especially progressed during the first rounds, but he had problems in the fourth quarter. He had two quick starts to start the inning, but then gave Eddie Rosario a single and walked with C.J. Cron. The Twins were able to score a goal on a single from Marwin Gonzalez who scored Rosario. Pineda gives up a homerun to turn an acceptable exit into a bad match. It's a movie we've already seen.
All the while, German continued to roll, in addition to the fourth inning. In the seventh, he allowed a single start but rebounded with two consecutive outings. However, he then walked with Byron Buxton and with the top of the Twins formation now due, Aaron Boone went to the paddock. Tommy Kahnle came in and eliminated Max Kepler to put an end to this threat.
As the rain began to rain, the eighth inning was a little sloppy for the Yankees. Adam Ottavino had two outs, but also put two on a walk and a hit by pitch.
