Domingo Germán standout, while MLB continues its investigation into domestic violence

Domingo Germán, the starter of the New York Yankees, is on administrative leave since last Thursday, after the MLB announced that the league was investigating him as part of its policy against domestic violence. This leave could last up to seven days before MLB can choose to suspend Germán, reinstate him or extend his leave. Today, they have chosen the last of these three options, extending their holiday until the end of the 2019 series. Germán's season is over.

Very few details about the incident – about which the police do not investigate – are known to the public. When the leave has been announced for the first time, the New York Times reported that Germán allegedly slapped his girlfriend during a public dispute. A Major League Baseball official witnessed this and informed the league office. The athlete also said that the incident was reported directly to the MLB, but added that the altercation took place at Germán's residence, and not for the benefit of MLB employees. Whatever happened, Rob Manfred frustrated Germán's case, keeping a useful pitcher safe from the most important games of the year without conclusively determining his guilt.
